McKinney Falls Camping Trip

McKinney Falls 01 Download Registration Form/Info

June 9-12 we'll be heading to McKinney Falls State Park for a great trip. (Check out the video on their site too.) Within the city limits of Austin, McKinney Falls offers a great location for us. They have plenty of hiking/biking trails and places to swim and fish. We'll be staying in screened shelter/cabins with bunk beds (nobody has to bring a cot). We'll also spend one day at the Volente Beach Waterpark.Volente beach

This annual trip is always one of the best! "Our plan is to have no plan." In this busy world, we live our lives frantically running from one event to the next. This trip is a total break from it all. Our goal is to have so little to do that we actually get a little bored. Why??? Why would any youth leaders want to bore their students? 'Cause when we get bored, we also get creative. And when we get creative, craziness is sure to follow, and amazing memories are made.

McKinney Falls 02 God revealed Himself first to us as "Creator" (Genesis 1) and then He said we were made in His image. That means we were made to create too. But we don't ever slow down long enough to become creators. We're too busy consuming stuff that others create. Our hope/goal is that we can slow down and notice God - to slow down and begin to think about Him - to slow down and create space - space for Him to work and space that will allow us to imagine and create new lives in connection with Him.

  • Weekly Activities

    Here's a list of our weekly activities. We do cancel for holidays, special events, and exams, but in general, these are pretty consistent programs.

    Sunday

    10am - Small Group Ministry

    5pm - U-TURN/Bible Study in Homes.

    Wednesday

    6-7:30pm - U-TURN Youth Ministry

    Random Times throughout the Week

    Ministry Training for Youth - Youth Band, Drama Team, Video Crew

  • Special Events

    Summer District Camp

    - Join our District @ Lakeview

    Summer Mission Trip

    - Everything from local home repairs, to working with the homeless, to indian reservations.

    Summer Camping Trip

    - Just our group

    Fall & Spring Retreats

    - A full weekend with a speaker and band, or sometimes it's just a quiet bible teaching time.

    Mission Mondays

    - Summer half-day local missions @ the pregnancy help center, the port ministry, world in need, safe haven, boys and girls club, and retirement homes.

    Faith in Action Weekends

    - We have an opportunity about 3 times a year to serve our community.

    Breakthru Retreat

    - Local Methodists come together to worship @ Pineywoods with a great speaker and band in April.

    Day Trips

    to IMAX, Schlitterbahn, Comedy Sports, Star Cinema Grill, Miller Outdoor Theater, etc.
